When Hollywood star Jared Leto and his brother Shannon decided to bring back their band Thirty Seconds to Mars, they made it clear they wanted to reinvest themselves as musical artists. 'It's The End Of The World But It's A Beautiful Day' takes a step back from the bands typically harsh, strong, electronic sounds and replaces it with more sultry sounds, still of the alternative genre.

Upon the album's announcement Jared shared that the band conceptualized 200 songs, with enough good tracks to release more than one volume. With a mass of tracks as large as this, it explains why the blend between each song is as seamless as it is. As a collective album this works quite well, however, as a Thirty Seconds to Mars album, something is just off. The band has amassed a loyal fanbase who admire their slick and forceful rocking sounds, but after a five year pandemic hiatus, they return with a contrasting change. Although some may be fond of the lighter sonic direction they seem to be taking, the heavier sound will always been the classic for Thirty Seconds to Mars.

Taking a step like this is extremely difficult to do especially with the current state of the music industry. I do think the band pulled off this jump quite well, but it is understandable why fans may take a step back from engaging. As someone who was never the biggest Thirty Seconds to Mars fan, I actually enjoy this album above most of their earlier music. I love the cinematic feel where each track feels like a movie. The production style is so transformative and the overall vibe is quite unique.

'It's The End Of The World But It's A Beautiful Day' may not be a fan favourite album, it is definitely still work the listen!
